The MBTA continues to develop an app that tracks service across the system in real time and is asking for rider assistance.
A sneak preview of the MBTA Go app was posted online in July, but the transit agency is now encouraging the public to download the beta version of the application as it continues to test it.
In a July statement, MBTA Director of Communications Gabriel Mondestin said T General Manager Phil Eng. We asked our team to develop a mobile application that would provide real-time information to the public.” You’ll be able to make better informed decisions about your travels. ”
The purpose of the application is to provide passengers with “reliable, real-time information about MBTA services,” according to the T’s web page dedicated to the app.
Interested riders must first download the TestFlight app.
“Once you agree to the terms and conditions, you will be prompted to ‘redeem’ the code,” the MBTA said. “Instead, please return to this site and click the button below step 3. This will automatically load the MBTA Go Beta app on your phone.”
To participate in the MBTA Go test, riders must have an iPhone running iOS 17 or later, but the agency said it is currently working on an Android version.
“In addition to testing the app, you can share your experience with us,” T writes on its website. “Your feedback will help us solve problems, improve, and prioritize what to do next.”
In a statement to Boston.com, an MBTA spokesperson said the app’s “beta” testing phase will end in the coming months.
“More than 2,000 MBTA riders are using the MBTA Go app to travel on the T, and we appreciate all the feedback they have shared with us,” the statement reads. It is written. “This app will improve communication between the MBTA and riders, allowing the T to share real-time information in a more accessible way.”
