Kylie Jenner is currently the second most followed woman on Instagram, with over 396 million followers. Despite this, the actress, who graced the cover of Elle’s November issue, has been quite offline lately due to her mental health.
She explained in an interview that she has reduced her use of social media. “My friends and I are laughing because it’s hard to keep up with the internet now. It’s exhausting,” she said. “When I was posting 24/7 about how I woke up, what I had for breakfast, what I was wearing that day, the color of my nails, what car I was in, where I was going, I realized that my hectic schedule was I didn’t work that much. I didn’t have kids, so I had more time. If I didn’t post on TikTok three times a day, I would be behind.”
Jenner uses Instagram and Pinterest to find young designers to collaborate with on her fashion brand, Khy. She recently added another classic app for millennials, albeit secretly. “I’ve got Tumblr again. I’m always looking for inspiration.”
However, the star is careful with her use. She revealed that she sometimes deletes social media apps from her phone for a week in order to engage with more people.
Jenner, a mother of two, has tried to protect her children, Stormi, 6, and Ayre, 2, from the internet. She occasionally shows glimpses of her life with them, but she makes it a point to control what people see.
“When I share my children, I want it to come from me or their father.” [Travis Scott]” she said. Jenner added that her children do not have their own accounts and never will. “No social stuff for as long as possible,” she joked, asking to wait “until they leave the house.”
Even with these restrictions, Jenner can’t keep her daughter completely offline. “Stormi will come home and totally understand the TikTok dance,” she said. “It’s like, ‘Where did you learn this?’
