Jefferson County EMA releases new emergency notification app

The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency is replacing the Everbridge notification system with a new app called MyAlerts. The MyAlerts app allows users to set multiple notification locations, ensuring they stay informed about the situation near their home, work, or child’s school. This app provides notifications about severe weather and other important information from the EMA. ‘>> WVTM 13 ON -THE-GO: Download the app for free. “We want people to be able to sign up for this and actually receive these emergency alerts. If there’s a life-threatening situation within the area that receives that information, that’s very important. We can take action,” said Melissa Sizemore with the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency. Sizemore emphasized that the new system is great because it automatically translates alerts into more than 60 languages. The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency is replacing the Everbridge notification system with a new app called MyAlerts.
