You heard it. If I had to stop reviewing laptops right now and choose just one, it would be the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra. I didn’t even review the laptop, but editor-in-chief Sean Riley did and he made me want it.
among us Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra reviewpraised the performance, battery life, and gorgeous display packed into a thin and light design. Yes, these things can be said about many laptops, so I’ll explain exactly why the Galaxy Book4 Ultra sold me.
However, there are some caveats. There’s no way I’d spend $3,000 on a laptop. I don’t care how decorated it is – and this laptop is that Stacked. However, if I happened to see this at 50% while on vacation, you’d think I’d snatch it up.
Now, let’s take a look at why I want the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra.
the best of both worlds
Of course, I’m a journalist, but that’s not what attracted me to the Book4 Ultra. I plan hours-long D&D sessions and write fantasy for myself and a group of gremlins, so I need a laptop with a comfortable keyboard and one that can withstand long hours of work.
I’m also a gamer, so I need some graphics performance internally. You don’t need the best. You need something that lets you play your favorite games with minimal settings. And of course, a beautiful display.
The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra meets both of these requirements. I haven’t touched this laptop, but I trust Sean Riley when he says that it features a well-spaced, clicky keyboard, and the touchpad is very smooth and drag-free. I am. It certainly sounds like a keyboard you’ve been tap-dancing to all day.
Another important aspect of that comfort is heat. The hottest temperature the Galaxy Book4 Ultra reached was 92.3 degrees Fahrenheit, which is below the comfort standard of 95 degrees. The last thing you need to worry about is your laptop catching fire and burning a hole in your pants.
Of course, there’s also the battery life. In Laptop Mag’s battery tests, the Galaxy Book4 Ultra lasted an average of 13 hours and 15 minutes. That’s more than enough to forget about work and get an extra 5 hours. Honestly, writing 13 hours a day is enough to make you tired.
Then there’s performance. Yes, it has the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, which is powerful in its own right, even though it can’t keep up with the competition. But I’m more interested in the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GPU. I didn’t run extensive gaming tests on the Book4 as it’s not a gaming laptop, but the RTX 4070 GPU is more than adequate for my needs on almost any laptop. As I said earlier, there is nothing wrong with lowering your graphics settings.
However, it has to look good. That’s what the Galaxy Book4’s 16-inch, 2880 x 1800, 120Hz AMOLED touchscreen display is for. First, images look sharper at higher resolutions, even at lower graphics settings. A 120Hz refresh rate gives you smoother visuals, so you can play fast-paced shooter games without getting lost in dropped frames. And of course, the AMOLED screen produces bolder colors and deeper blacks. With 81.8% DCI-P3 color coverage and 384 nits of brightness, the Galaxy Book4 Ultra offers a stunning display.
The next part is not so important for me, but nevertheless, it is a great pro. Sure, it looks like a cheap MacBook, but even if you’re tired of the overall design, the MacBook still looks good. More importantly, the Galaxy Book4 Ultra weighs 4.1 pounds and measures 14 x 9.86 x 0.65 inches. It’s light and thin, so you can easily carry it around the house.
Are you buying it?
To be honest, I’d buy the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra as soon as it became more affordable, like $1,499. I would never recommend purchasing this laptop at full price. These specs do not warrant the $2,999 price. Top-of-the-line configurations are always available directly from Samsung for less than $2,500, but that’s still not cheap enough for me.
I’ve seen RTX 4070 gaming laptops for sale for under $1,000. As for Book4, it’s a bit too demanding, but I think it could potentially see significantly more sales. However, I won’t buy the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra until it’s 50% off. Of course, if money is not an issue then yes, live my dream.
