TL;DR
- On the iPad Mini 6, the jelly-like scrolling effect is noticeable when viewing content quickly in portrait orientation.
- The latest iPad Mini (A17 Pro) minimizes the salience of this effect, but it doesn’t appear to be completely resolved.
- To completely resolve this issue, Apple may need to rely on a different display technology.
Apple introduced the iPad Mini 6 in late 2021 with a USB-C port, support for Apple Pencil 2, and a jelly scroll effect that many users are still dissatisfied with. In the latest 2024 version of the small tablet, the company added support for Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Intelligence. Has the jelly scrolling effect on iPad Mini (A17 Pro) been fixed? Well, yes and no.

According to a video posted on Twitter by @Nana_Corriente, the iPad Mini (A17 Pro) still shows signs of jelly-like scrolling. However, the effect is not as noticeable compared to its predecessor. In the tweet (translated), he emphasized, “Due to the display specifications, this can’t be helped.” This suggests that Apple needs to consider a different display technology to completely eliminate the infamous effects.
For those unfamiliar, this effect is triggered when a user quickly scrolls through content vertically. One side of the iPad Mini’s screen updates at a different rate than the other, causing visible wobble. To minimize this, users can prioritize scrolling through content at a slower speed or using iPad Mini in landscape orientation.
It remains to be seen whether the successor to the A17 Pro model will completely resolve this issue, or whether Apple will settle for its current half-baked solution.
