If water collects in your Samsung Galaxy USB port, you may receive a moisture warning.

TL;DR

  • Samsung has released a new video advising what to do if your Galaxy smartphone displays a moisture detection warning.
  • This video advises clearing the cache of the USBSettings app after some general suggestions to address the issue.
  • This new fix suggests that you may just need to restart the detection system software once the port is dry.

If you’re having trouble with a website or app, your technician may advise you to try clearing your cache. This is probably one of the most comprehensive fixes, second only to the classic “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” Samsung appears to be taking a similar approach, suggesting that if your Galaxy smartphone displays a moisture detection warning and it doesn’t go away, it may not be the solution.

The Moisture Detection warning is intended to appear when liquid is detected in your phone’s USB charging port. Samsung India has released a helpful video explaining what to do if you receive a droplet notification on your Galaxy device. Learn common practical steps like unplugging your charger, cleaning ports and connectors, and drying your phone.

But if nothing else works, the most surprising suggestion at the end of the video is to clear the cache of the USBSettings app. You can check out the video below (via sam mobile).

You’ll need to dig into your phone’s settings, but the steps are very simple. you go setting > app > Filter and sortthen turn on the switch Show system apps and search USB settings in the app’s search bar. Tap this app storage and clear cache.

In case it’s not clear, Samsung isn’t saying that tinkering with this software will magically dry out your USB ports. It’s just that the port may already be fine and the residual moisture warning may be a software glitch.

If this last resort does not work, you should have your device inspected by a professional. Wireless charging may still be a short-term solution, but moisture inside your device is never a good sign.
