Apple could be off to a busy start to 2025, with three major new products reportedly set to launch next spring (i.e. between late March and late June). That’s what it means.
This comes from the usually reliable Mark Garman, who in a Bloomberg article (via 9to5Mac) notes that the iPhone SE 4, iPad 11, and new iPad Air models all launched during that period and will feature an upgraded iPad keyboard. He also claimed that it would be released.
Now, most of that isn’t that surprising. Garman previously said the iPhone SE 4 and new iPad Air models would arrive in the first half of 2025, but he’s now narrowed that down to spring. – which means you shouldn’t expect them before March.
But perhaps the more interesting claim is that the iPad 11 will also launch in that window. Because this is Mr. Gurman’s new claim. Previously, I was going to take this claim with a bit of a grain of salt as it was very unclear when this new entry-level iPad would arrive, but at least it gives us some room for possibility.
Bringing AI to the entire iPad family
The current model, iPad 10.9 (2022), does not support Apple Intelligence, so it certainly makes sense for Apple to launch an iPad 11 in the not too distant future. Assuming this happens, all of Apple’s latest tablet models will be ready for AI.
Similar support is expected for iPhone SE 4, but since iPad Air (2024) already supports AI, it won’t be added to the next iPad Air model. Still, it’s likely to be more powerful than the current iPad Air, and even more capable of handling AI tasks.
AI aside, Garman is clearly referring to multiple models of the next entry-level iPad, codenamed “J481” and “J482.” He didn’t say how these models will differ, but like the Air and Pro models, the slate could come in two different screen sizes. If these leaks are correct, we will know within 5-8 months.
