iPhone 16 users report possible battery life bug in iOS 18

MacRumors reports that some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing battery life issues, citing recent posts on Reddit, Apple’s support page, and the MacRumors forum.

Many say the issue occurs when the phone is in standby mode, “suggesting that background activity may be causing the issue for some users,” MacRumors says. states. It can be difficult to quantify exactly how much the average iPhone 16 uses at rest. When your device is on standby, different applications drain battery life at different rates. This means that almost every iPhone user has a different power consumption rate.

Battery life is always a top concern when upgrading your phone. iPhone 16 is powered by a 3,561mAh battery, which has 6.3% more capacity compared to iPhone 15. In our testing, the iPhone 16 lasted 17 hours and 47 minutes, a notable improvement over the iPhone 15, which lasted 16 hours. Same test.

Some people with older iPhones are complaining that installing iOS 18 drains their battery. Some people have reported that their battery issues went away after upgrading to iOS 18.0.1 or iOS 18.1 Beta.

If upgrading to iOS 18.1 resolves the issue, users likely won’t have to wait long. According to Bloomberg, iOS 18.1 will be released on October 28th and will include Apple intelligence.
