The new iPad mini 7 does not ship with a charger in European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. This change is believed to be in response to EU regulations on e-waste that will come into force in 2026, but will also affect some European countries that are not part of the EU.
The latest iPad Pro and iPad Air models, released earlier this year, also don’t come with a charger in the box in Europe.
The lack of a charger in the iPad box only applies to Europe for the time being. Apple includes a 20W USB-C charger with iPad mini 7 in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, and other countries around the world.
As part of Apple’s goal to remove plastic from packaging by next year, the iPad mini 7 box likely won’t include an Apple sticker either. This is a trend we’ve seen all year, with the Vision Pro, the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air models, and even the iPhone 16 series missing an Apple sticker on the inside of their boxes. Customers can still request an Apple sticker when purchasing these devices directly at an Apple retail store.
There is one bit of good news. The USB-C charging cable that comes with iPad mini is braided for durability.
Apple begins accepting orders for the iPad mini 7 today, and the device will be available on October 23rd.
