Apple announced the iPad mini 7 to the public in a surprise press release, and the device came with some pretty significant upgrades, which we’ve already covered. It has been speculated for some time that the iPad mini 7 will be equipped with either the A17 Pro chip or the latest A18 chip. The company appears to have gone with the former and reserved the latter for the iPhone. Apart from this, it is interesting to note that the iPad mini 7 comes with 8GB of RAM, which is up from the iPad mini 6’s 4GB.
Apple’s latest iPad mini 7 comes with Apple Intelligence and 8GB RAM for faster and better multitasking
Apple’s decision to double the RAM capacity of the iPad mini 7 is not an unintentional upgrade, as the company plans key features for the device. Shortly after the company’s WWDC event in June, it was revealed that Apple Intelligence would only be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and all models later, as a requirement for the new AI features to work.
Apparently, the company has started upgrading all its devices and the new iPad mini 7 is part of its plan to expand the Apple Intelligence market. That said, the iPad mini 7’s 8GB RAM brings Apple Intelligence to Apple’s lower-priced iPad. If you want to take advantage of Apple Intelligence, the iPad mini 7 is the company’s cheapest device with new AI features.
However, more RAM is also beneficial for many other tasks, such as faster app load times and improved multitasking. This is one of the main reasons to buy an iPad in the first place. Having 4GB of RAM on your iPad isn’t all that great considering the fact that apps need to be updated before they can fully return to their functionality, so when you go back to the app, the app loading time will be slower. It will be shortened.
It’s great to see that Apple is gradually upgrading its entire product line with upgraded RAM and powerful internals to enhance Apple Intelligence capabilities. However, it remains to be seen what route the company will choose to upgrade its entry-level iPad. The company is positioning it as a standard iPad with features running iPadOS 18 and later versions, so we suspect the device won’t have Apple Intelligence features yet.
The A17 Pro chip in the iPad mini 7 is not exactly the same chip as the iPhone 15 Pro model, as there are slight differences. We’ll have more information about iPad mini 7 in the coming days, so be sure to check it out before you make your decision.
