According to Chinese regulatory filings, the charging speed of the 7th generation iPad mini is limited to 20W.

Features of iPad mini 7 charger
The charging speed of the new “iPad mini” seems to have been confirmed through the China Compulsory Certificate (3C) certification report (discoverer) 91 mobile), it has been revealed that the new model will feature the same charging specifications as its immediate predecessor. According to 3C certification, the 7th generation iPad mini (model A2996) supports 20W “fast charging” using a power output of 9VDC x 2.22A. This is the same wattage as the 6th generation iPad mini, which also has a 20W USB-C charger. Although the listing also mentions a 45W adapter, the actual charging speed for the iPad mini is limited to 20W. This limitation puts it behind some competitors on the market, such as the OnePlus Pad 2, which boasts 67W fast charging.

The 2021 6th generation iPad mini now has a USB-C port that allows for 20W charging, an 8W increase over the 5th generation iPad mini with a Lightning port. The iPad Air is similarly limited to 20W, but testing shows the iPad Pro can reach charging speeds of up to 30W. Apple’s focus on optimizing long-term battery life may be one reason why charging speeds remain relatively modest across the company’s product line. Fast charging can generate additional heat, which can shorten battery life over time.
