Indie app spotlight: ‘Access’ is the missing piece in Apple’s new password app

Welcome to the Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we introduce you to the latest apps from the indie app world. If you are a developer and would like your app featured, please contact us.

Access is a great companion app to Apple’s new Passwords app, allowing users to securely store card numbers, gift cards, license keys, and other sensitive information you want to keep safe beyond passwords.

Main features

Access lets you store payment cards, bank accounts, IDs, various documents, driver’s licenses, insurance cards, passports, certificates, loyalty cards, gift cards, software license keys, and more. Other password apps like 1Password can save these, but Apple Passwords doesn’t. Access aims to fill that gap by providing a very familiar UI for Apple Passwords.

With this app, you can organize into folders by category, lock with Face ID/Touch ID, and use on all Apple platforms (except tvOS). Your data is synced via iCloud and nothing is stored on external servers, ensuring your privacy. The developer also says it doesn’t collect user data, and with iCloud Advanced Data Protection, your data is encrypted end-to-end.

iOS18 update

Access was recently updated for iOS 18 with lots of great new features.

  • App intents that support shortcuts and Siri
  • Control center and lock screen controls
  • spotlight search
  • All-new design with 3-column layout, new sorting options, new system interactions (multiple selection, drag and drop), and more
  • Attachments – Add photos or files to saved items

Download the app

Access is available for free download from the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. It was also recently featured in the App Store’s “Best Apps for Apple Vision Pro” category. Access+ is available for $3.99 per month, $9.99 per year, or $24.99 for life. Access+ allows you to use an unlimited number of items, but only 5 items are available for free.

Requires a device running iOS 18, macOS 15, or visionOS 2.
