Samsung has once again failed to prevent images of its next phone from leaking online before its official launch. Samsung teased the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition last week, revealing an October 21st release date, but someone with access to the device published a photo of it on X/Twitter a day earlier.
You’d be forgiven for thinking this is no different from the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6. But the fact that the original image shared on Twitter is subject to a copyright claim is all the proof you need that it’s real.
Fold 6 Special Edition now available in South Korea and China
There are no photos of the front of the phone, but rumors suggest that the Fold 6 Special Edition will feature a 6.5-inch cover display, and photos of the back of the phone suggest that it will look similar to the regular Fold 6 (with a display). It is suggested that the range is wider than the 6.3 inch display). Samsung is finally addressing complaints about its Galaxy Z Fold lineup, which features narrow and cramped cover screens, which may be a deterrent for those who prefer the most compact foldable phones possible.
The device in these photos is the Chinese version. In China, Samsung sells it as the W25. Elsewhere, Samsung is expected to call it the “Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition.” Elsewhere means South Korea. At least initially, the only markets where this special edition will be available are China and South Korea.
That doesn’t mean fans in other countries will be disappointed if they miss out. The Fold 6 Special Edition is expected to have very few upgrades. It has a larger screen, a 200MP main camera, and these are the only confirmed features. There may be other changes, such as a larger battery, but we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to know all the details.
