I think I’ve found the most underrated iPhone feature – and you might be surprised what it is

I resent the accusation, but sometimes I get labeled as clumsy. I used to rarely drop things, but recently I’ve knocked over my glasses, torn my clothes, and damaged my phone a frankly ridiculous amount of times. Most of these were test units, but still.

Expensive flagship smartphones have a tendency to fly out of your hand or out of your pocket, and I don’t use cases for them. Even on some of the best flip phones, the most fragile devices, I avoid the life of a case.

am i stupid? probably. But I like to see the industrial design of the best phones rather than wrapping them in not-so-pretty plastic.

Similarly, the boast about the best Android smartphone with Gorilla Glass reinforced my disinterest in further smartphone protection. But then the floor ends up cracked, chipped, or dented, either by my own hands or just by physical factors.

However, this does not apply to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I’ve often heard about the benefits of titanium in mobile phones. That allowed the larger iPhone to withstand all kinds of chassis loads. However, it will not turn patina.

But I still can’t praise the shine of Apple’s Ceramic Shield glass. Introduced with the iPhone 12, I always thought this product was Apple’s answer to Corning’s Gorilla Glass. However, now I feel like I’ve forgotten how good Ceramic Shield is.

After about 10 months of use, my iPhone 15 Pro Max has been put through the wringer. I’ve slipped off couches, hit desks, and fallen on the ground, and each time I’ve emerged unscathed.

Shield up!

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max review

The most memorable example dates back to August when I was visiting Liverpool. I tossed my phone onto my hotel bed, and the weight of my iPhone 15 Pro Max sent it bouncing off the duvet, flying over the open bathroom door and landing face down on the tile floor with an unpleasant clatter. I landed.

I thought, “Okay, that’s it for the phone,” and was thankful for my foresight to have a spare Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra on hand.

But when I gingerly lifted the iPhone off the floor and turned it over, I found that it was completely undamaged. I couldn’t find a single dent or dent. Even the protruding camera module looked new and clean.

I was really surprised. Such drops have ruined other phones that unfortunately had the clumsy Roland mode activated.

And even though I love the action buttons and consistency of the camera system, it got me thinking that Apple’s Ceramic Shield glass might be my favorite feature on recent iPhones.

So if you want a phone that’s durable and looks stylish without looking like a brick, look no further than Ceramic Shield iPhone. Find it on our best iPhone deals page.
