Before iOS 18.1, if you wanted to record a call on your iPhone, you had to go to the App Store and find a cumbersome third-party solution. There was no built-in way to record from within the Phone app. Things changed with the arrival of iOS 18.1, which added built-in recording functionality to the Phone app through a software update. Even better, recordings aren’t limited to a specific phone. Any device capable of running iOS 18 should be able to support this feature.
However, call recording has regional restrictions. In its support document for the feature, Apple lists the countries where call recording is not currently available, including the European Union. The ability to transcribe recorded calls is currently limited to English (US, Australia), Spanish (US, Mexico), Chinese (Mainland China), Cantonese (Hong Kong), and Korean (South Korea). I am.
A voice will automatically announce to both the caller and the recipient when recording begins, but we recommend that you ask the person on the other end for permission to record. Call recording records both when you make and receive calls. In addition to phone calls, it also works with Face Time voice calls. Apple indicates that call recording is limited to conversations between two people.
