Honor’s next-generation flagship lineup will land in China in late October this year, a week after the launch of the next version of Magic OS.
Honor CEO George Zhao confirmed the news on Weibo today, announcing that the Honor Magic 7 series will be announced on October 30th (via 91mobiles). To build excitement, he shared a poster for the launch event highlighting the AI features of Magic OS 9.0, which is scheduled to launch on October 23rd.
Built on Android 15, Honor’s upcoming Android skin promises a host of AI features in line with the growing trends in the smartphone market.
It is very likely that future releases of the Magic 7 series will be limited to China. Honor usually brings its flagship devices to international markets in the first quarter of the year, so companies outside of China can’t wait for the global release in the coming months.
It is interesting to note that both Magic OS 8.0 and Honor Magic 6 series were launched in January last year. Therefore, the upcoming releases of Magic OS 9.0 and Magic 7 series will be quite a change for Honor as they will be released much earlier than usual.
The upcoming Honor lineup is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm flagship chipset, likely called Snapdragon 8 Elite or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This move makes the Magic 7 one of the first phones to feature this new processor. Unless other OEMs can participate in the launch before Honor, Honor is ahead of the pack, pulling away from rivals like the Xiaomi 15 and OnePlus 13.
Qualcomm is scheduled to announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite/Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 on October 21st. According to recent reports, the launch of flagship products equipped with this chip is scheduled to start from October 28th. This opens the door for Xiaomi and other brands. It could claim the title of the first smartphone with the new SoC.
The Magic 7 series will include two models: a standard version and a high-end Pro version. According to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Honor Magic 7 Pro will come with advanced security features such as an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. On the charging side, it is expected to support 100W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging options.
According to recent rumors, Magic 7 Pro may feature a 6.82-inch 2K OLED display with curves on all four sides. The screen is expected to offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and be enhanced with Kunlun Glass.
