OnePlus yesterday announced Oxygen OS 15, which is based on Android 15. This update brings several key features to more devices, including Circle to Search and Open Canvas. As we mentioned in our Oxygen OS 15 review, this update is an encouraging step forward, but the company still lags behind its competitors when it comes to AI features. OnePlus had shared that the first beta of OnePlus 12 would start this month, but now the company has announced broader rollout plans.
In an official announcement, OnePlus shared its plans for the open beta and said that the stable release schedule will be determined based on feedback from the beta. OnePlus 13 will launch globally with the first stable Oxygen OS 15 build, after which we can expect other devices to get new updates in the stable branch.
OnePlus had said that the OnePlus 12 open beta would be released on October 30th, and now we know that 12R will also be included in the first wave. The second wave of devices includes the OnePlus Open foldable tablet and Pad 2 tablet, with the first open beta expected to begin in November.
The third wave includes older flagships like the OnePlus 11 series, as well as more recent devices from OnePlus’ mid-range and budget Nord lineup. Older flagships like the OnePlus 10 series and older Nord devices are expected to see their first open betas in 2025.
When is the stable release expected?As mentioned earlier, OnePlus does not commit to a fixed schedule for stable releases. Based on past trends, open beta programs can last between 1 and 3 months, longer if there are a large number of bugs that need to be fixed. The company also notes that the open beta schedule will vary by country, with each carrier determining updates for carrier-specific models.
OnePlus also noted that the rollout of AI features will begin by the end of November. Some AI features will be limited to certain models to “ensure optimal performance.”
