Here are the new Android 14 easter eggs

Every year, Google releases a new version of its Android operating system. In 2023, we received an Easter egg for Android 14. If you want to see all the past Android Easter Eggs, we’ve got you covered there too. But for now, let’s take a closer look at Android’s secret surprises for 2023.

What are the Easter eggs in Android 14?

In the world of software development, Easter eggs are hidden features. It is usually hidden and is not required to use the software. Rather, it’s a fun thing people can find if they have the means to look for it.

Google has always built Easter eggs into Android, and you can always access them in the same way (we’ll discuss this in the next section). Historically, Easter eggs have centered around the number, name, or theme of a particular Android release. For example, Android 8 Oreo included, you guessed it, the Oreo cookie. Android 11 Easter Eggs focus on This Is Spinal Tap. The movie’s “This goes up to 11” gag. I see!

Android 14’s easter eggs center around space. Once you’ve installed Android 14, we’ll show you how to check it yourself.

How do I find Easter eggs in Android 14?

It’s very easy to check for Android 14 Easter eggs on your phone or tablet running the latest version of the operating system.

On a compatible device, follow these steps to check for Easter eggs in Android 14.

  1. heading to android settings Open the app in your drawer or swipe down the notification shade and tap the gear icon.
  2. in settingscroll down and About the phone Please tap.
  3. in About the phone Tap a section and Android version.
  4. Once inside Android version In the section Android version Repeat the number (must be 14) at a fast pace.
  5. Tap the version number a few times and you should see an Easter egg for Android 14.

The Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 update brings small changes to Android 14 Easter eggs. The text “Android 14” no longer appears and the circle has changed to a downward-pointing triangle. Why this change? Well, this is a homage to the Android 15 logo

When you activate the Easter egg for the first time, you’ll see the official Android 14 logo. It looks like the patch logo from NASA’s Apollo 14 mission. The logo appears in space.

However, the Easter eggs don’t end there. Press and hold the logo for a while and you will feel your phone vibrate. This is to simulate a spaceship taking off. If you hold it down long enough, the logo will disappear and you’ll see the controls for a small ship floating in the vastness of space.

The bottom left shows the status of the ship’s thrusters, current coordinates, and speed. If you hold down the ship and move your finger, you can move through space. The top left shows a lot of information, including the name of the star closest to your location, its star class, radius, mass, and the number of objects orbiting it.

This information can be used to navigate spacecraft to the stars. Move the ship until the bottom left coordinates are (0, 0). You can also crash into the stars if you want. Otherwise, it will scour the star’s orbit to find an object and potentially collide with it.

There is no way to “win” this minigame. Its entertainment value is pure exploration of space, which is very Star Trek.

It’s an Android 14 easter egg. If you want to know more about Android 15 and when it will arrive on your Android smartphone, check out our update tracker.
