According to a report in the Jakarta Globe, passengers are allowed to bring up to two iPhone 16s into Indonesia.
From August to October, around 9,000 iPhone 16s were brought into Indonesia as personal luggage, paying taxes. However, if this phone is sold in Indonesia, it will be considered illegal.
iPhone 16 units imported into Indonesia through the postal service for non-commercial purposes will also be allowed as they are not required to meet local investment targets.
According to The Jakarta Post, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwan Kartasasmita said on October 22 that Apple has not yet fulfilled its promise to invest Rp 1.71 trillion (S$144.6 million) in Indonesia. He said this is necessary before obtaining a license to sell mobile phones in Indonesia. .
