pixel weather is now available Pixel 6 and newer devices, including tablets, after announcement in October 2024 feature drop. The app is deployed as a new version of an existing background service and Google Play Store. After installation, users will see a new “weather” icon in the app’s grid. To set up Pixel Weather, users must allow app notifications and precise location. You can also make Pixel Weather your primary notification source by turning off Weather notifications from the Google app. Additionally, restarting your device will ensure that your existing widgets and At a Glance open Pixel Weather instead of the previous Google Weather experience.

The app allows users to log in with their Google account and sync their saved locations across devices. Select a city to see a regional background that reflects the current situation. Users can customize the weather block by long-pressing the card, and everything except the hourly forecast is reorderable. Customizations are specific to each saved city and have a two-column layout on tablets and foldable devices. Available data includes precipitation, wind, sunrise and sunset, UV index, air quality, visibility, humidity, and barometric pressure.
Weather maps powered by Google nowcasting show a 6-hour precipitation forecast and are available in the US, UK, and most European countries except Italy and Luxembourg. Users can tap their avatar in the top right corner to change weather units, themes, and access settings. You can also receive tomorrow’s weather forecast for your location every night, and set precipitation alerts by city. The new pollen count feature is available in the UK, Germany, France and Italy.
This update is a welcome addition for Pixel users. This app is well designed, easy to use, and provides accurate and up-to-date weather information. The ability to customize the app to suit your personal preferences is also welcome. As someone who suffers from allergies, I am especially interested in the amount of pollen. Overall, this is a great update that makes your Pixel even more useful.
