Google Play Store updated with Material You Design

The Google Play Store does not display available updates for system-level apps due to potential bugs or behavior changes.

Updated 10/13:The Play Store issue remains. Below is a list of common Google apps that don’t show up in your download pending list, but will show “updates” when you go directly to the Play Store listing.

Updated on 9/4: This issue continues to occur and is currently confirmed to affect the pre-installed app YouTube on multiple devices. I received a Play Store notification that a new update is available.[保留中のダウンロード]If you go to the screen you will see that there is nothing to install. You can update it by going directly to the list of apps.

Updated 7/11: This happens again in Google Partner Setup:

Google Partner Setup is a required application for devices running Google Mobile Services (https://www.android.com/gms/).

  • This app is pre-installed by the device manufacturer to ensure proper device functionality on all Android devices with Google Mobile Services. It cannot be disabled or deleted.
  • Google recently moved this app to the Play Store to help deliver bug fixes, improvements, and important updates to your device faster. No other changes have been made as a result of this Play Store listing.
  • If your device is running Android 7 or earlier versions, you won’t receive updates for this app. It may indicate that this app is not compatible with your device, but this does not mean that the app is malfunctioning or causing your device to malfunction.

Updated on 7/1: Today, in the Play Store notification,[保留中のダウンロード]If the screen shows there’s one more update missing, the missing app is Google’s data recovery tool.

This system app helps you restore data from your old phone using cable or cloud backup. The app is already installed on your Android device.

It can only be accessed and updated via a direct link to Google Play. The app doesn’t even appear in the installed list.

Original 2/6: This issue occurs on the “Download Pending” screen. Other apps show up fine, but system applications that have updates available won’t show up here.

We first noticed this problem a few weeks ago. It’s been happening recently with the Settings service and Google Wi-Fi provisioner, which underwent an update over the past few days.

Strangely enough, new versions of system apps show up in Google Play’s “new update” notification, but don’t show up when you actually go to the page to start it. You may also notice this problem if, for example, you receive an alert that there are three updates for your app, but only two are new.

This may be an intentional change and follows how Google Play Services automatically updates through the Play Store.[ダウンロードを保留しています]It is not displayed on the screen. Google may expand the system-level applications that are treated as such.

However, if you disable automatic updates, those system applications will not install the latest versions. So you have to find out that there are available downloads elsewhere and manually access and update the list.
