Google Play Store and Google Play Services are two very important components of a great Android experience. Google maintains a changelog of new features added through automatic app updates, often categorized as Google system updates. Google announced the following changes to various parts of its ecosystem towards the end of October 2024.
- Google Play Store v43.4 (2024-10-28):
- [PC, Phone] With this new feature, you will receive a pop-up message to create a Play Games profile from various locations in the Play Store.
- [PC, Phone] This new feature provides improvements to help prevent abuse from disabling protection.
- [Phone] We’ve updated the search suggestion UI to improve your search experience.
- Google Play Services v24.42 (2024-10-28):
- Account management: [Phone] With this new feature, you’ll get more relevant search results and a dedicated section for related Help Center articles on the search page in your Google Account Settings.
- wallet: [Phone] This new feature allows you to use the Pix payment method with the “Tap to Pix” option in Google Wallet.
The highlight of these changes is that Google Wallet now supports Pix for users in Brazil. Additionally, with the latest Google Play Services updates, you’ll get more relevant results when you search for queries in your Google Account settings.
Around the world, the Play Store will now require users to create a Play Games profile in more locations. Google Play Games Profiles make it easy to automatically sign in to supported games, save your progress, and earn achievements. This is a good way to sync your progress for some supported games to the cloud. So, if something happens to your phone and you lose your data, you can restore your game progress without thinking too much.
Google also mentions “improvements to prevent abuse from disabling our protections,” which is a pretty odd statement to make without further context. We’ve reached out to Google to learn more about this change. We will update you as soon as we receive a response.
