The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is the latest addition to the list of Samsung phones eligible for seven years of software updates. 7 years includes Android, One UI, and security updates.
Samsung today (October 21st) announced the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which will go on sale in South Korea starting October 25th for 2,789,600 won (approximately $2,040). Like all of Samsung’s flagship models this year, the Special Edition Fold will be updated through 2031.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition runs Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1 out of the box. Samsung plans to offer Android 15 and One UI 7.0 updates in early 2025, following the official release of One UI 7.0 on the Galaxy S25 series.
We don’t know if the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will have access to the One UI 7.0 beta program when it releases later this year. The device is not expected to be released outside of South Korea and China, and Samsung may use limited market availability as an excuse not to conduct a public beta test.
Samsung could also go in the opposite direction, as the Fold 6 will likely receive the One UI 7.0 beta, and the Special Edition will have the same software and Snapdragon processor. We will let you know as soon as we know the details, so please wait for a while.
