After months of preparation, Samsung today announced the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. We finally know when this foldable phone will be released in South Korea and how much it will cost. However, some questions still remain regarding general availability and specifications.
There are rumors that the phone will also be released in China, and just a few hours ago, photos of the Chinese version were leaked. However, Samsung has not disclosed any details regarding its release in China. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more, but for now, here’s what the company has revealed for its Korean customers:
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition known availability and pricing details
Samsung has confirmed that sales of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in South Korea will begin at 9am on October 25th. Those who wish to purchase the product can purchase it through online stores such as KT, U+, and T Direct Shop, as well as Samsung’s online shop and domestic online shops. Three mobile carriers: SK Telecom, KT Corporation, and LG U+.
As for the price, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 2,789,600 wonwhich roughly looks like this $2,036. The device comes standard with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with 512GB of storage (and 12GB of RAM) can be purchased from Samsung’s online shop in Korea for 2,388,100 won (equivalent to about $1,743).
Samsung only mentioned one color option called Black Shadow. The exterior of the phone has a striped pattern that combines metal and glass materials.
Samsung’s announcement didn’t mention S Pen support, but once again we’ll likely learn more about the device and Samsung’s release plans soon.
Will this new foldable device eventually be available elsewhere? Time will tell. Also, if the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is released in China or other markets, it is likely to be released at a different price. stay tuned.
