Days after the Galaxy S24 FE got the latest security patch for Samsung smartphones and tablets, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra have joined the party. The October 2024 security update is being rolled out to the original Galaxy S24 trio.
The US is the first market to get the October update for the Galaxy S24 series. It is available on select carrier locked versions, including AT&T, and will soon launch on other carrier versions and unlocked units, as well as other countries around the world.
Purely security-focused software updates
The October 2024 security patch fixes 30 security flaws in the Android operating system and 12 security flaws that only affect Galaxy devices. It also fixes vulnerabilities that affect Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches with certain Exynos processors, but not the Exynos 2400 chip inside the Galaxy S24 and S24+.
To identify the update, check the last four characters of the build number. AXI1. To download, open the Settings app on your phone and navigate to: Software updateTap Download and install.
This is purely a security update and nothing else is provided. And unfortunately, this may be the case with most, if not all, updates to this year’s Galaxy S24. This is because Samsung has postponed Android 15 and One UI 7.0 updates to 2025.
However, Galaxy S24 owners in select markets will have the opportunity to beta test One UI 7.0 this year. The United States will be included in the list of countries where beta testing is optional.
