Forget about the new iPad mini. Previous generation models just dropped to record low prices

Today is the release date of the new iPad mini (7th generation). And just in time for that, Amazon just slashed the price of Apple’s most compact previous-generation tablet to a new record low. The 6th generation iPad mini is now available starting at just $349.99. This is for the 64GB SSD WiFi model in any color, but you can get the same $150 savings on the 256GB and cellular configurations.

Our iPad mini 6 review explains why we love tablets as portable creative tools. The A15 bionic chip still outperforms the 9th and 10th generation full-size iPads and can handle digital art with ease. Compatibility with Apple Pencil 2 and a compact size that’s comfortable to hold for extended periods of time also make the tablet even more reliable for artists on the go.

The new 7th generation model it just replaced offers some significant upgrades. That’s a faster chip (Apple says the new tablet’s A17 is 30% faster) and support for the Apple Pencil Pro instead of the second-generation Pencil. But it’s mostly iterative updates.

Considering the $150 price difference, the deal for the older model is attractive to creators who won’t use this device as their main device, but need a portable tablet for casual use while traveling or commuting. Possibly. See the iPad generation list, compare it to other iPads available, and find out more about today’s deals below (and be sure to follow our Apple Black Friday roundup for even more savings ).
