The new iPad mini does charge fast at 20W, but the mention of a 45W charger in regulatory filings means it could charge faster with the right accessories. It could mean that.
Regulatory filings often reveal details about Apple products that Apple itself has not made public. In the case of the 7th generation iPad mini, China has revealed some details about its power capabilities.
The China Compulsory Certification (3C) list for iPad mini was discovered by. 91 mobile It was published on Thursday and provides some power-related specs for the tablet.
First, the listing mentions the phrase “sold without adapter.” Previous versions shipped with a 20W charger, but the charger may be omitted in some regions, as has been the case with iPhones for several years already.
Apple’s website says it includes a 20W USB-C power adapter, so this doesn’t apply to the US and Canada. However, in the UK, Germany, and France, there is no charger listed in the box.
Regarding the charging function, the iPad mini can be quickly charged at 20 watts. Testing showed that the previous iPad mini 6 could fast charge at up to 25W.
The 20W figure is a bit disappointing, especially since the iPhone 16 can be quickly charged at up to 25W via MagSafe, and the 6th generation model can also reach 25W with the right adapter.
However, the 20W number in the listing likely includes the regular 20W in-box charger that was included in the previous generation.
As part of the same set of listings, the report also spotted another accessory along the way. A 45W A2940 adapter is listed and provides power at 15V 3A.
It’s strange that the iPad mini’s certification includes an adapter of that wattage, as it could imply that the iPad mini can charge at a much faster speed. Even if that happens, you won’t necessarily get the full 45W, but it could still be an improvement.
