I don’t think I’ve ever looked for a Nintendo Switch accessory more than the Genki Covert Dock. It’s a pretty impressive piece of technology that combines the functionality of a dock with the power of a portable charger in one travel-friendly adapter. This is a mainstay in my own personal Switch setup, but it only goes on sale during major sales events like Prime Day.
Thankfully, we are in such a situation right now. Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale brings the price of the latest Covert Dock 2 down slightly $47.99 (was $59.99). That’s a 20% savings, or $12 off, and brings it back to record-low prices we haven’t seen since the last Prime Day Nintendo Switch sale in July. That’s cheaper than Nintendo’s own bulky dock, and even cheaper than some charging adapters alone. This is already one of the best Nintendo Switch accessories on the market, but it’s now one of the cheapest docks around.
It comes with everything you need (minus the HDMI cable for actually connecting it to your TV), including a USB-C cable and various power outlet adapters. Although this is aimed at real travelers, I think the Covert Dock is just as useful when making long journeys from one room to another. This is an official Prime Day sale, so it’s exclusive to Amazon Prime members and ends on October 9th.

Should I buy the Genki Covert Dock?
I recommend the Genki Covert Dock almost every year, and the latest version doubles down on the original. The full 45W output enables fast charging and also supports 4K displays. This doesn’t really bother you about the Nintendo Switch’s 1080p display, but it’s useful if you want to cast other devices to your gaming TV.
Those who regularly carry their Nintendo Switch with them, especially those who frequently stay in hotel rooms, will find the best value here. Simply connect HDMI to the dock and USB-C to the console to play your Switch on the big screen wherever you are. I mainly use mine to move between my living room TV and another room without having to disconnect all the cables around the main dock itself. But it also allowed me to attend a Mario Kart 8 jam at a friend’s house.
I also have a question about the Genki Covert Dock Mini. This is a small option that won’t add much bulk to your carry-on bag (currently on sale for $39.99 on Amazon). However, this model removes USB-A functionality and limits charging to 20W. For $8, most players will recommend purchasing the full Covert Dock, but the Mini is still a solid choice, especially if you’re concerned about storage space.
