Apple Intelligence is finally here.

Apple devices got a little smarter on Monday when the tech giant officially released the first Apple Intelligence feature in the US through its iOS 18.1 software. Tech giants are gradually rolling out new AI-powered tools, but many of the AI-enabled features they’ve touted aren’t yet available.

Apple Intelligence features released on Monday include improvements to Siri that deliver more “natural-sounding voices” and improve conversational skills, according to Apple’s website. Other AI-powered features include new writing and summarizing tools, improved photo editing, and more.

It will take more time for other AI features to emerge, such as Genmoji, the ability for users to create their own emojis, and ChatGPT integration on Apple devices. Some tech experts have even said that users may be overwhelmed by what iOS 18.1 currently offers in terms of AI features.

“If you download it and you have AI, you might be like, ‘Wait, that’s it?’ Because this is coming out in stages,” CNET Editor-in-Chief Bridget Carey told CBS Morning. spoke.

“This is not something you can just get a chatbot that you can talk to on your phone,” Carey said of the new Siri, which is powered by Apple Intelligence. Please think of it as a gift,” he added. It won’t stutter or stumble on commands, but it will understand you better. But that doesn’t create wild new answers,” she explained.

Not all devices with iOS 18.1 come with Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is only compatible with the latest iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices with the latest Apple Pro chips. This includes iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. , According to Apple, iPads with A17 Pro or M1 or newer.

Additionally, both your device and Siri language must be set to US English for Apple Intelligence to work.

Big changes to Photos app

Some of the most notable new AI-powered tools coming with iOS 18.1 are related to Apple’s Photos app. The Cleanup tool allows photographers to remove distracting or unnecessary objects from their photos with just a tap. The app also includes a new natural language search feature, making it easier for users to quickly find and organize old photos.

hearing aid

A new software update brings Apple’s AirPods Pro works as a hearing aid. Last month, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared Hearing Aid Features (HAF), the first FDA-approved commercially available hearing aid software.

The new HAF targets the estimated 30 million Americans who suffer from mild to moderate hearing loss due to “ageing, exposure to loud noises, certain medical conditions, and other factors,” the FDA said.
