The latest ChatGPT update for macOS and Windows desktop apps brings advanced voice modes, previously a mobile-only feature, to desktop users worldwide. AVM provides a compact floating window experience instead of the previous full-screen design.
This replaces the main ChatGPT window rather than acting as a separate companion window, a notable change from earlier alpha builds. Additionally, new audio settings appear in the menu and act as shortcuts to macOS’s system audio settings, rather than adding new app-specific configurations.

Most of the features in this update are now available to users, but voice clips are still in development. This feature allows users to save short audio clips of ChatGPT interactions and capture the last 25 seconds of a conversation.

These clips include a watermark indicating they were created with ChatGPT, a link to the app’s download page, and are intended for easy sharing. However, the UI also appears incomplete and appears blank in some cases, indicating that it is not ready for release.
