As the end of the year approaches, we’re sharing tips to stay secure and protect your privacy this Cybersecurity Month. This article focuses on how to enhance the security and privacy of your Android smartphone.
Is your smartphone safe?
The best way to protect your phone is to use an alphanumeric password along with biometrics such as your face or fingerprint. Most Android smartphones allow you to choose between a PIN, pattern, or password, so we highly recommend setting an alphanumeric password to make your phone harder to break into.
See which apps and services are linked to your Google Account
Visit this Google website to see all connected apps and services linked to your account. You can check permissions for each app or service, and remove unused or unauthorized connections directly from the website.
See devices linked to your Google Account
To see which devices are connected to your Google Account, visit the following page and remove any unused devices. [設定]>[Google サービス/設定]>[セキュリティ]>[デバイスを探す].
Also, make sure Find My Device is enabled. [設定]>[セキュリティとプライバシー]>[デバイスを探す]make sure location is turned on. If your phone is lost, visit Find My Device online to track its location.
See your saved Google passwords
If you have passwords saved with Google, visit the Google website to see and remove the sites and passwords you need to change or remove.
Activate 2FA/MFA
If you haven’t already enabled two-factor authentication for apps that support it for added security, you should enable it. This requires additional steps to verify access, such as SMS or an authenticator app. Additionally, you can add additional security measures to unlock apps, such as a PIN or fingerprint, or go even further and use a physical security key.
Check Android app permissions

Enable Google Play Protect
To do this, on your smartphone[設定]Move to[セキュリティとプライバシー]Go to[Google Play プロテクト]Select[デバイスのセキュリティ脅威をスキャンする]Turn on the option. It’s worth noting that Google Play Protect continuously monitors apps and devices for harmful activity and alerts you if it detects security risks.
Whether you downloaded a malicious app from the Play Store or sideloaded malware, Google will ask you to remove it from your phone. This feature works in the background and notifies you if something suspicious happens.
Use a password manager
Consider using a dedicated password manager app like LastPass to create and save secure passwords for the websites you visit. These apps automatically fill in passwords and provide additional security features such as auto-lock and PIN/fingerprint access.
final step
Once you’ve completed the steps above, be sure to check out the Google Security page to make sure your phone’s security and privacy are fully protected.
