Apple will soon allow businesses to customize how emails and calls appear on the iPhone. Apple on Wednesday announced a way for businesses using its Business Connect tool to add their brand name and logo in a way that pops up in iPhone apps used for email, phone calls, and payments.
Each registered business can verify that its information is accurate and add additional details such as a photo and special offers. If Apple were to launch its own search engine or internal feature of Apple Intelligence instead of directing users to external sources like Google, Yelp, or Meta, it would not be possible to collect up-to-date, verified business information. , which could be beneficial to Apple.
Branded Email is a feature that businesses can sign up for now before it begins rolling out to users later this year, and could make it easier to identify emails in a sea of unread messages. In recent years, Gmail has also added an authenticated brand logo and a checkmark to indicate that an email is from an authenticated source.
Additionally, when a company selects a Business Caller ID, Apple displays the company’s name, logo, and department on the iPhone’s incoming call screen. This feature is useful when determining whether a random number is spam or a legitimate business. It is scheduled to begin rolling out next year.
A small update coming to Apple’s Tap to Pay service will allow businesses to display logos in addition to displaying category icons when accepting payments.
