Samsung and Apple have announced new top-of-the-line tablet options this year, with Apple announcing the M4 iPad Pro in May and Samsung debuting the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra earlier this month. Considering the similarities between the two, we thought we’d compare Apple’s high-end iPad Pro and Samsung’s top-of-the-line Galaxy Tab.
In terms of design, Apple offers the iPad Pro in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, while Samsung’s tablets are larger at 12.4-inch (S10+) and 14.6-inch (Ultra). The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra closely resembles the iPad Pro with its slim bezels, thin design, and rounded corners. Like Apple, Samsung uses OLED display technology, and this year it has a new anti-reflective coating, but it’s not as good at reducing glare as Apple’s nano-textured display.
Samsung has added a number of Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, some of which are similar to what Apple plans to include with Apple Intelligence in iPadOS 18.1. There’s a Note Assist option that automatically formats your notes with headers, bullet points, and paragraphs, which is useful if you just want to write. Galaxy AI can also provide note summaries and audio recording summaries. These summaries also extend to web browsers for quick summaries of long articles.
In Samsung’s Image app, you can sketch an object on a photo and the AI will create a more realistic version of what you sketched and add it to the photo. Additionally, you can use Portrait Studio to change the look of your images. There’s also built-in access to the Google Gemini chatbot, and Circle to Search lets you circle anything on your screen to get more information about it.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra looks a lot like the S9 Ultra over the years, but it comes with AI features. Samsung is touting an 18% increase in CPU performance and 28% increase in GPU performance, but this is still nowhere near the performance of the M4 chip.
Samsung’s tablet comes with an S Pen and an optional bookcover keyboard, but this keyboard isn’t as premium or nice as Apple’s latest Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro. It’s not as good as a trackpad, so a keyboard without trackpad functionality may be better. Samsung still excels at multitasking, and it’s easier to use multiple apps on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra than on the iPad Pro. Additionally, there’s DeX for a desktop-like experience.
The 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra starts at $1,200, and the 13-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,300. Which one do you prefer? Let us know in the comments section below.
