Apple Watch Series 10 or Ultra 2: How to choose
Apple Watch Series 10 or Ultra 2: How to choose
I want an Apple Watch, but I can’t decide between Series 10 and Ultra 2. Hello, I’m Lexi. Welcome to our weekly destination for all things mobile. You’ve come to the right place because we’re quickly comparing everything about these watches, including their screens, battery health, and fitness features. The most important thing to consider is the price. The Ultra 2 is easy since it comes in one size and costs $799 in the US. The Series 10 is a little more complicated as it comes in two sizes and two different finishes. Prices start at $399 but can go up to, you guessed it, $799 depending on configuration. So Ultra 2 or Series 10, let’s go first, let’s line up some on screen. So when we are talking about numbers, we can clearly see the difference between the two. The Series 10 comes in 42mm or 46mm cases with curved front glass. The Ultra Two is a 49mm case with a flat display. My wrists are 100mm and 52mm. Use this as a reference if you want to know how each one fits. But even though the Ultra 2 is larger, the 46mm Series 10 is technically the Apple Watch with a 3% larger screen. Yes, you heard that, right? 3%. got it. So, as you know if you’ve seen my previous videos, I’m always going to share this with you guys. If you put these two side by side, you won’t notice any difference in screen size. Maybe you need a magnifying glass. But in reality, you’ll see about the same amount of stuff in each, from your watch face to your app texts and, of course, your messages. So I wouldn’t go for the larger Series 10 purely for bragging rights. Something more practical. What you can actually see is the wide-angle Ole and Ltpo 3 technology on the Series 10, but not on the Ultra. This means that when you look at the screen off-axis, the Series 10 gets a little brighter, especially when the always-on display is active, and the ticking seconds hand appears on the watch face for reflections, luminous flux, activity, etc., and the LTPO 3 means to be driven. With Ultra 2 always on display, the seconds hand never ticks. However, overall screen brightness may be more important than these things, as the Ultra 2 screen gets up to 3000 nits of brightness compared to 2000 nits indoors or outdoors. You’ll have no problem seeing either, even if you haven’t imagined it yet. The Ultra Two is built to be a more durable and sturdy watch. The titanium case is slightly raised to better protect the edges of the sapphire crystal display. Series 10 displays have two different coatings depending on the case material chosen. Aeon X glass. If you get the aluminum or aluminum version for my international friend, or the titanium version with sapphire crystal, both are dust and water resistant, but the Ultra 2 can go down to 100 meters compared to 50 meters. , it has some unique diving features such as: Well, which one is easier to wear? I used to love the Team Big smartwatch, but after wearing the Series 10, this one is a winner for me in this regard, especially in terms of sleep tracking. But there’s one design feature in Ultra 2 that keeps drawing me back to the action button like a siren’s cry. You can start a workout, start a stopwatch, start a flashlight, trigger custom shortcuts, and do just about anything, and even change it depending on the context. For example, if you’re working out, you can press it again to mark a segment. With the update to watch Os 11, long press is even more convenient. Notice that a list of actions pops up. Now, let’s put aesthetics aside and see what these watches really do. The Series 10 has the new S 10 chip, while the Ultra 2 has the older S 9 chip. Again, practically speaking, I’m telling it as truth. There is no noticeable difference in performance between these two watches. Apps open on devices at approximately the same time. Siri is the same in both, double tap. The gestures you use to interact with your watch work exactly the same way. It also shares most of the same software experience with the Watch OS, including a comprehensive app selection, precise search on compatible iPhones such as the 15 or 16 series, and 64 gigabytes of storage. The Ultra 2 has two dedicated watch faces, Wayfinder and Modular Ultra, both of which support night mode, allowing you to automatically turn red when it gets dark or keep it on whenever you want. You can. Ultra 2 also allows for one more data field on the workout screen, but this is due to software differences. It’s a really short list. Both of these watches have speakers and microphones, so you can answer calls with either if your phone is within range. You can also go phone-free with LTE on Apple Watch. So you can make calls and stay connected even when you’re away from your phone. The Ultra and Titanium Series 10 come standard with LTE, but if you want it on the Series 10 Aluminum model, you’ll have to pay extra. Remember that there is usually an additional fee to pay for wireless. Contact your provider to enable LTE on your compatible watch. You can actually receive calls and set it from the clock app. Are you okay. To test the next part, let’s go outside and make some noise. I’m listening to a recording of an Ultra 2 call. It features dual speakers and three micro-arrays specifically designed to reduce wind noise and outdoor conditions. Please listen to this audio. This is the audio from series 10. There is only one speaker and one microphone. However, it does have an audio separation feature. In other words, it reduces background noise. So you can compare the two and see which one you prefer. Despite the hardware differences, the sound is pretty much the same. both. You can also play your favorite songs without using headphones. Simply load your music, audiobook, or podcast and press play to route audio through your Watcher’s speakers. Don’t be a pest when doing this. Do you have a feeling that internally these watches are quite similar so far? Well, it doesn’t change much in this section. These watches are very similar when it comes to health and fitness tracking. Each has a temperature sensor. ECG or electrocardiogram app. High and low heart rate alerts and irregular heart rhythm alerts are a small addition. If you live in the US and purchase a new Ultra 2 or Series 10, you will no longer have access to the blood oxygen sensor due to a patent dispute. However, if you manage to find an Ultra 2 sold before January 18, 2024, the blood oxygen sensor should still work. And this is not just for us, it’s not for my international friends, and what do you think? Both heart rate sensors are exactly the same. I compared the two Ultras to chest straps, and they’re pretty much the same in that they both use a ring to track your daily activity. And with option 11, you can change your daily goals and even press pause if you want. Each also lets you track a long list of workouts, monitor heart rate zones, and connect Bluetooth accessories like power meter pedals, and both support sleep apnea notifications, fall detection, car, collision detection, and emergency Provides S OS. But wait, I found some differences. The Ultra Two has an 86 decibel siren and a wider operating range than the Series 10. It also has a depth finder rated at 40m versus 6m on the Series 10. This watch is not technically rated for scuba diving. However, like the two Ultra GPS, the depth apps are different. The Ultra two has dual frequency GPS that uses both L one and L five bands. While Series 10 only uses the L 1 acronym Super Side, Ultra 2 provides more accurate tracking of distance and route information in urban areas. Well, it’s time for 12 Punch. The Ultra 2 is a crushing blow to the Series 10 in terms of battery life. There’s no competition here. Apple officially rates the Series 10 at 18 hours and the Ultra 2 at 36 hours. But let’s be real, you can get more out of each of these in normal use, namely notifications from your phone. 1-hour GPS workout and sleep tracking on always-on display. The Series 10 takes a day and a half before needing a charge with the same usage pattern. Ultra 2 takes nearly 3 days. Both now have low power modes that further extend battery life. Of course, this depends on how you use your watch for resource-intensive tasks, such as heavy LTE usage or listening to music through Bluetooth headphones or speakers. It will definitely drain your battery faster. Both support fast charging as long as you use a 20-watt or higher adapter and the included cable. The Series 10 can charge up to 80% in 30 minutes. And yes, my own testing confirmed that to be the case, the Ultra 2 charges to 80% in an hour. This was difficult to understand. So I understand if you want to skip all the way to the end and want an answer on which watch you should buy, even if they look very different and are suitable for completely different use cases. The interior is strikingly similar. If you want the best battery life, sturdier construction, and specific scuba features, get the Ultra 2. But it pains me to say this as someone who has firmly used Team’s big smartwatches and written love letters to their action buttons, but I would actually recommend the Series 10 to most people, including myself. I am. It has pretty much everything you need, so unless you opt for the titanium 46mm version with the more expensive band option, few people won’t like the bargain. And it will be priced on par with the Ultra 2. Then I think I’ll get Ultra 2. Thank you for visiting. I hope this was helpful to you. As always, comment below with your thoughts and other questions about these two watches and we’ll get back to you next time. See you then.
