Apple today announced the long-awaited iPad mini with Apple Intelligence features. Powered by the A17 Pro chip, the tech giant’s latest pocket-sized tablet features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display.
As a quick refresher, the last iPad mini was released three years ago and was powered by the A15 Bionic chipset, which is also found in the iPhone 13 series. Apple says the new iPad mini has a 30% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU than its predecessor, and supports features such as ray tracing, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and dynamic caching. . Apple says the new chipset also has a Neural Engine that’s just as fast as its predecessor.
Another change is that the base version of the new iPad mini comes with 128GB of storage, which is double compared to the 2021 iPad mini. The new iPad mini has the same design as its predecessor. The iPad mini (7th generation) is the only model with a mobile chip, as opposed to the new iPad with the new M-series chip.
The new iPad mini has the same 12MP rear camera as its predecessor, but supports Smart HDR 4 thanks to a faster Neural Engine. Apple says the new tablets can also leverage AI to automatically identify documents from the Camera app and remove shadows using the new True Tone flash. The front camera, on the other hand, also supports center stage, allowing it to stay focused even when the user moves around.
Available in four colors – Blue, Purple, Starlight and Space Gray, the new iPad mini is priced from Rs 49,900 for the Wi-Fi only model and Rs 64,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Also available in 256GB and 512GB storage configurations.
