This doesn’t mean much to many people, but some of us subscribe. all Streaming networks that make you feel like you have to switch from one app to another are honestly annoying. “Are you sure you want to leave Hulu?” Yes, damn it! Please close this app so I can watch the season finale of slow horse With another app! (The season finale is great, by the way).
The fewer steps the better, so we’re glad that Prime Video offers some of these streaming networks as subscriptions within the service. I am currently subscribed to Max, Paramount+, MGM+, and AMC+ within Prime Video. That’s a small thing, isn’t it?
You’ll be able to add Apple TV+ in the next few days. It will be available as a subscription product on Prime Video for the same $9.99 that Apple charges. Will it change our lives? That won’t happen! But it’s one less app to deal with, and Prime Video’s “Continue Watching” line keeps all the shows you’re watching lined up as new shows become available. The neat freaks among us will enjoy being organized under one roof.
It’s a cable bundle, and with Apple TV+ joining Prime Video, Disney/Hulu, Netflix, and Peacock will be in trouble. I suspect Peacock will eventually join Prime Video, while Hulu has been given an easy-to-access tab for Disney+, and Netlfix is on its own.
But it is. If you’re wondering who will survive the streaming wars, Netflix, Disney, and Prime Video are likely to be the winners, with all the rest either merging, disappearing, or becoming their own little niche apps. Probably.
