iOS and iPadOS 18.1 were released this week, with Apple Intelligence adding the biggest addition. But the Music app also includes some great upgrades that you may have missed. Here’s what’s new in Apple Music:
TikTok sharing integration
Apple Music has long offered special Instagram sharing options, but iOS 18.1 also builds a custom integration for TikTok.
While listening to the Apple Music song you want to share, press the TikTok button on the share sheet and the TikTok app will appear.
From there, you’ll see three sharing options.
The video and photo options are useful because TikTok automatically adds a song link to your post so your followers can hear a snippet of the song.[メッセージ]Optionally, simply include the song in your DM.
Customizable iPad tab bar
The second new Apple Music feature is built into the iPad version of the app. It takes advantage of the new tab bar design introduced in iPadOS 18.
iPadOS 18.1 allows you to fully customize the content that appears in the tab bar at the top of the screen.
Apple includes some default menu options, but you can tap and hold to enter edit mode. The sidebar displays various content that can be pinned to the tab bar.
My favorite way to customize the tab bar is to add frequently used playlists and playlist folders as dedicated tab bar items. This way your favorite music will be front and center and easily accessible from anywhere within the app.
iOS 18.1 Apple Music Summary
For now, none of the Apple Intelligence features announced over the next year have anything to do with Apple Music. But for now, Apple continues to upgrade the Music app experience in other ways. However, we’re hoping for AI goods to arrive in a surprise update next year, perhaps in the spring.
