Apple’s rumored smart home display may look a lot like its old friend, the early 2000s iMac G4. in In this weekend’s newsletter, Mark Garman reports that the countertop tablet features a square screen “set diagonally on a small base, reminiscent of the iMac G4’s circular base.” . The speakers may also be housed here. The device is expected to arrive sometime next year, followed by a high-end version with robotic limbs that can reposition the display.
The first more affordable model will have a relatively small screen, “about the size of two iPhones side by side,” Garman said. Although it’s intended to be used for smart home control, it can also run apps like FaceTime and Calendar, as well as display photos and videos. Garman said more expensive models boast larger screens in addition to robotic features. As he previously predicted, that product likely won’t arrive until at least 2026 and could cost close to $1,000. Both models will come with Apple Intelligence.
