The new Mini’s pitch is that, aside from the fact that it’s an iPad Mini, it’s the smallest iPad made for Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence better be a great upgrade, because without it, the new Mini wouldn’t be an upgrade at all.

From this perspective, you don’t need an iPad mini to run Stage Manager. No need for a ProMotion display or more RAM. It doesn’t need to be bigger or come with a Magic Keyboard. In fact, it has to be more than what it is. It was a mistake to try to position the iPad mini as a replacement for other models. The iPad mini will lose in comparisons and measurements to the 11-inch iPad Pro.
