Apple (AAPL) is scheduled to report its fiscal fourth quarter earnings on Thursday, October 31st, amid a busy week of tech announcements. The iPhone maker launched Apple Intelligence features through the iOS 18.1 software update on Monday.
Investors are watching to see if the newly revealed Apple Intelligence will have a noticeable impact on technology companies. Bob O’Donnell, president and principal analyst at TECHnalogy Research, joins Asking for a Trend to discuss.
“As of today, Apple is quasi-intellectual because we’re not quite there yet,” he explains. Despite rolling out features like Genmoji and text writing capabilities, the company faces the same challenge as its competitors: convincing consumers that this AI feature is important.
“Apple has to really convince consumers that this feature is worth it, and that’s going to take a long time,” O’Donnell said. He doesn’t expect AI to have a major impact on the company’s future financial reporting. But in the long run, he believes these AI features will improve the usability of Apple devices and “creep up on us in a way.”
Watch the video above to hear what O’Donnell has to say about Big Tech’s capital investment in artificial intelligence.
