Apple brings back volume slider to iPhone lock screen in iOS 18.2

Apple Intelligence features are finally coming to iPhone. Apple has been talking about Apple Intelligence since WWDC 2024, and now the iOS 18.2 update brings the feature to supported devices. Users can enjoy Apple Intelligence features like Genmoji, Image Playground, and ChatGPT integration into Siri and Writing Tools in a variety of apps across iOS.

iOS 182 volume sliderInterestingly, Apple is also bringing back features that were removed after the release of iOS 16 in 2022. Notably, Apple removed the volume slider from the iPhone’s lock screen, which only appeared when users used AirPlay.

After installing the iOS 18.2 beta, users regained that functionality and can now control volume directly from the lock screen. To enable this feature, users must[設定]>[アクセシビリティ]>[オーディオとビジュアル]Move to[ボリューム コントロールを常に表示]must be turned on.

If you enable this feature, the volume slider will always appear on your lock screen when you’re using headphones or a Bluetooth device, even if you’re using your iPhone’s built-in speakers.

In iOS 18.2 related news, Apple is also adding Visual Intelligence functionality similar to Google Lens. This feature provides more information when the user points the camera at something. This feature can read text within images and utilize location data within images.

Use this feature with Google Search or ChatGPT to get more information. To access this feature, users must press and hold the new camera control button on the lock screen, take a photo, and see more details.
