Motorola has begun rolling out a beta version of Android 15 for select Edge 50 devices, becoming one of the first phone manufacturers to let users experience the latest Android behavior.
Currently, only some Motorola Edge 50 Fusion devices are eligible for the beta, and we’re not quite sure what the selection criteria are, but it’s still very encouraging to see this kind of movement at an early stage. That’s it.
Considering Motorola isn’t really known for quick upgrades, this early introduction of Android 15, even in beta, was something of a surprise for Motorola. However, Motorola launched the Edge 50 series with a promise of five years of OS updates, so faster updates could be a result of this new commitment.
Google, the only phone manufacturer to date to offer a stable Android 15 update, released the Pixel Launcher update on October 15th. Google’s rush makes sense considering the company is developing the Android source code, which itself was released on September 4th.
We usually expect Samsung to go after Google in terms of adopting major Android updates, but we’ve yet to hear any official information about the expected Samsung One UI 7 update.
Samsung has promised to update its range of phones with Android 15, from the ultra-budget Galaxy A14 to the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra.
As reported by YTechB, the list of Motorola devices expected to get the Android 15 update includes the Edge 50 series, Razr smartphones launching in 2023 or 2024, and some G-series handsets .
In the global market, both Xiaomi and Honor have enabled Android 15 beta for some devices, but like Motorola, neither company has provided stable Android 15 updates.
