Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Pad Review
The Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Pad is priced at a reasonable $24.99 / £24.99 / AU$49.95, so it’s about the same price as a similar charging pad from ESR. I can’t speak to charging speed, but the ESR caught my eye because it has a reinforced cable base and braided nylon around the wires, which could give it a longer lifespan than its Anker counterpart. Equipped with Anker’s signature wireless fast charging, Wireless PowerIQ, the speed at which the MagGo wireless charging pad charged the iPhone 13 Pro was satisfying. A full charge took just 2 hours and 10 minutes, and I was able to charge both my AirPods Pro 2 and Motorola Moto Buds+ case without any issues.
The magnet attachment is also strong enough. I was able to shake the phone vigorously many times without the pad shifting more than a little from side to side. I also tested the strength of the magnet by hanging the pad with a cable with the phone attached, and the phone stayed in place. This was a great result for one of the best iPhone chargers out there. On the other hand, if it doesn’t move, it’s when you put it on a flat, smooth surface. This charger seems to have been designed with ease of use in mind, so I can forgive Anker for this point.
Thanks to its slim depth and curved base, it was comfortable to continue using my phone while charging. I have fairly small hands, so I didn’t find it particularly difficult to hold my phone normally. So it was a nice change from the mobile batteries I often use for this purpose.
One small negative point I have to mention is that the integrated power cable was a bit of a hassle. It’s not removable, which makes it a bit difficult to pack when you go out. I haven’t had enough time to observe this, but my concern is that the first part of the flexible cable coming out of the pad may wear out over time. However, this is just my speculation. My rationale is that if Mous was able to fit a USB-C port into the thinnest part of a low-cost MagSafe-enabled 3-in-1 portable charger, it seems plausible that Anker would too. I mean, I would have thought about it. This too.
Overall, this is a simple but satisfying MagSafe charger. I found that when I continued to use my phone while replenishing my life force, it was comfortable to hold with minimal distractions. When I left my phone charging without using it, the charging time was good for the price. If you’re looking for something cheap and practical because you rarely leave your phone out of your hands, you might want to consider the Anker MagGo wireless charging pad.
