As you can see in our iPhone 16 review, all four models in Apple’s 2024 iPhone series have added a new camera control button, a touch capacitive cutout for easy access to camera settings. And now Android smartphone manufacturers are adding their own versions.
In a post on Chinese social media site Weibo (via Android Authority), Oppo product manager Zhou Yibao said that the next Oppo Find It was confirmed that a button will be included.
Of course, there’s no mention of the iPhone 16 in the post, and Yibao claims that the button design was fixed back in November last year with the aim of giving users more photo-taking options. (For example, buttons work underwater).
We may never know what exactly prompted Oppo to add its own camera button, but it’s worth mentioning that the introduction of a button to Apple’s phones has long been rumored. This isn’t something that surprised Oppo back in September.
something borrowed
There is a long history of Android smartphones borrowing from iPhones and vice versa. You may remember that when the iPhone X was launched in 2017 with its distinctive display notch, many Android smartphones quickly followed the same design path.
Conversely, there is no doubt that the additional customization options added to iOS 18 this year are very similar to what is already possible in the Android operating system. Apple doesn’t mind borrowing some ideas either.
After all, as long as the best phones continue to improve across the board, which phone introduced which features first, unless we end up in a situation where all phones look and act the same? is not much of a concern. .
And keep in mind that all iPhones and most Android phones already have some kind of “camera button.” If you haven’t discovered this trick yet, you can tap one of the volume buttons with the default camera app open on Android or iOS. Button to take a photo.
