TL;DR
- According to evidence found in the latest Android beta, Android 16 may allow you to resize Quick Settings tiles.
- You can resize quick settings tiles, but they can only be 1×1 or 2×1 in size.
- This resizable Quick Settings tile feature appears to be part of a significantly improved Quick Settings panel that Google is working on for Android 16.
Last month, we reported that Google was working on a major overhaul of Android’s Quick Settings panel for next year’s Android 16 update. From what we’ve enabled, it looks like Google wants Android to show more notifications and quick settings tiles on the screen. The best way to do this is to split your notifications and quick settings panel into two separate pages. However, there is another way to display more Quick Settings tiles on the screen. What it does is allow the tiles to be resized. This appears to be what Google is working on for Android 16.

While digging into the latest Android beta update released by Google earlier this week, we discovered that Google has gone further with an overhaul of Android’s Quick Settings panel. We discovered that Google has created several categories to better organize Quick Settings tiles. This makes it easier to find the right quick settings tile to add to your panel. But shortly after that discovery, we discovered an even bigger change. Quick settings tiles can now be resized.
To be clear, quick settings tiles are not resizable by default in the latest Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 release, so you don’t have to try to resize them on your Pixel. However, if you enable the Quick Settings panel, which is in development in Beta 3, it will become resizable. To resize, simply tap any tile in the editor view and drag the dots left or right to make it smaller or larger. Tiles can be 1×1 or 2×1, with a minimum of 8 tiles and a maximum of 16 tiles per page. You can resize any tile, including tiles provided by third-party apps. However, it is clear that not all tiles display helpful descriptions when expanded.

Finally, here’s a short video that explains how to resize quick settings tiles in Android 16.
Personally, I’m not a fan of unlabeled 1×1 tiles, but I can understand why many people prefer unlabeled 1×1 tiles. These take up much less space on the screen, so[クイック設定]You can fit more items on one panel page.
One thing that isn’t clear to me is why the new quick settings panel doesn’t take up the entire screen, even though it no longer needs to leave space for notifications. However, we’re still a long way from the expected release date of Android 16, so things could change. That means there’s plenty of time for Google to change its plans for Android’s new quick settings panel. By the way, this could include completely retiring this new resizable Quick Settings tile feature, but we’ll be watching to see if that happens.
