TL;DR

  • It seems like the Android 15 update broke the Instagram app.
  • Swiping between stories is not possible and the app freezes randomly.
  • The updated version of the app appears to be fine, but it’s not yet available on the Play Store.

In what appears to be a bug, the Android 15 update has made the Instagram app nearly unusable. Stories do not load properly and you cannot skip from one story to the next. The app also freezes randomly.

We’ve confirmed this is an issue with the Instagram app on Pixel 8 Pro running Android 15. The Instagram app version I’m using is 352.1.0.41.100 and I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. Multiple reports on Reddit mention the Instagram app breaking down after the Android 15 update.

Don’t worry. It looks like there’s a fix that can get Instagram working again. All you need to do is download the updated version of the app. Unfortunately for many users, including myself, the new version of Instagram is not yet available on the Play Store. To avoid bugs affecting older versions of the app, you should sideload version 353.1.0.47.90 of Instagram for Android.

If you don’t want to sideload the updated app, you’ll have to wait until the updated Instagram app is published on the Google Play Store. Until then, Instagram may be very difficult to use in its current state on devices running Android 15.
