As promised, Google has delivered a stable version of Android 15 with new features. The company includes the latest security improvements for smartphones. The new OS will pave the way for several custom skins for millions of Androids around the world.

Google specifically notes that stable Android 15 introduces features and improvements for larger screen devices. These updates allow foldable and tablet users to get more done and include features like camera, messaging, passkey, and more.

Additional highlights at a glance:

  • Talk to Gemini hands-free with Pixel Buds
  • Use Gemini with Pixel screenshots
  • Isolate sound and enhance your videos with Audio Magic Eraser
  • Get amazing underwater images
  • Improved astrophotography in night mode allows you to capture beautiful images
  • Measure temperature in a more detailed way
  • Beat seasonal allergies with the Pixel Weather app
  • Find more useful widgets for Pixel
  • Improved call screens in the UK and Japan
  • Protect your phone even more
  • Keep your information private

New features include:

Low-light boost and in-app controls in the Pixel Camera app now work better in low-light conditions. For apps that use passkeys for authentication, you can log in with one tap. Satellite communication support has also been added, allowing it to work without mobile or WiFi.

Android Theft Detection Lock uses AI to keep your data safe. When your phone senses someone snatches your phone and tries to run, bike, or drive away, smart features automatically lock your phone.

  • Available on most Android 10+ devices.

To improve security, Android 15 introduces authentication requirements for stolen settings, such as removing a SIM or disabling Find My Device, when it detects multiple failed attempts at an app or setting. Your device will be locked down.

Inspired by Samsung’s Secure Folder, Android 15 adds Private Spaces. This feature works like a digital safe for Google’s Pixel smartphones. Create separate private spaces to organize your sensitive apps, such as social, dating, and banking apps.

  • To access your private space, there’s an extra layer of authentication to keep your app safe and protected from prying eyes.

Features for foldables and tablets.

Android 15 adds new productivity features for foldable tablets and tablets. Users can now easily pin and unpin the on-screen taskbar to customize the layout and keep favorite apps like Google Photos and Gmail within reach for quick access. Now you can.

Open Google Drive and Gmail at the same time and easily drag and drop files. Additionally, app pairing provides easy shortcuts to make multitasking easier. With just a tap, you can quickly get pairs of apps in split screen for faster access.
