Following yesterday’s Android 15 update, the Instagram app is starting to face some major unexpected issues for Pixel users.
After updating to Android 15, some Pixel users on Reddit noticed performance issues with the app. Content jumps around, freezes, and you can’t interact with the story properly. In effect, this app is almost “unusable”. Android permissions Learn about the affected Pixel 8 Pro.
The cause of this issue is unknown and does not affect all users. The same app version 352.1.0.41.100 works fine on Pixel 9 Pro Fold on Android 15. However, there are also reports from Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9, etc. A user shared a video of strange behavior.
Whatever the cause, updating the app to a newer version seems to resolve the issue. Some users have had success sideloading v353.0.0.46.90. However, this update is not yet widely available on the Play Store, so be careful if you choose to sideload it. Another workaround mentioned, at least for Stories, is to tap the “Message” box to go back. This allows the story to work properly.
