Google pushed Android 15 to AOSP in early September, but the OTA update for Pixel was nowhere to be seen. Instead, it said stable builds for Pixel and other Android devices will be rolled out in the coming weeks. The company mistakenly revealed that Android 15 OTA would be released in October, but a new leak has revealed a more precise release date.

Android 15 QPR1 is taking shape
According to a report in Android Headlines, Google will roll out a stable Android 15 build for compatible Pixel devices on October 15th. The company usually releases new updates on Mondays, but it looks like Android 15 for Pixel will be rolled out on Tuesday, as October 14th is a holiday (Columbus Day) in the US.
If this is accurate, stable builds of Android 15 will be generally available nearly 45 days after the source code is published on AOSP. This is the longest delay in the history of the OS, with the previous maximum delay being 15 days over-the-air for Android 12 on Pixel phones.
This report provides further insight into Google’s delay in releasing stable builds of Android 15 to Pixel devices, despite pushing the operating system’s source code to AOSP in early September. I haven’t. Android expert Mishaal Rahman has previously argued that the additional time would allow Google to squash more bugs, improve the overall stability of the OS, and provide a better user experience.
Could Wear OS 5 be released with Android 15 on October 15th?
Once Android 15 is released, it will be available on Google devices starting with Pixel 6, including the Pixel 9 series. The company has also yet to release Android 14-based Wear OS 5 for the original Pixel Watch and Watch 2. The update is likely to roll out to Google’s smartwatch lineup on the same day as Android 15 for Pixel.
