Samsung is exploring a new branding strategy for its Android smartphones in addition to the iconic Galaxy name, according to reports from South Korea.
Report from E-Today (via @Jukanlosreve) It has been revealed that Samsung is starting to explore a new branding concept to sell high-end smartphones under a brand other than Galaxy.
The logic behind this would be to isolate the company’s “innovative tipping point.”[s]”
Samsung’s Lee Yong-hee said earlier this year: “Galaxy has so many lineups that it’s understandable that people would expect a new name when a revolutionary turning point occurs.” The idea of a new branding for the premium device will allow for its division, which will be compared to Hyundai’s spin-off Genisys, which is used for premium cars.
The “Galaxy” name is a symbolic part of not just Samsung but the entire smartphone market at this point, but given the changes in the market and the tough competition from the iPhone, especially in the US, it’s becoming more and more of a reality. It’s not difficult to become one. Why Samsung is exploring new brand options.
